To market your business online means to convey your message to the world. Nowadays, when billions of people are online every day, searching, sharing, posting, and bookmarking, it is ever important to have a presence and proclaim your value to the masses.
People who are totally unaware of your presence need to be informed. Reach a global audience by marketing online. Just contacting a web design firm and getting a website designed isn’t enough: real time, effort and courage are needed to run in the mainstream.
There are many competitors (as well as customers) waiting for you in the virtual world: none of them are easy to please so why not plan and perform some strategic marketing tactics that will please your customers?
Online marketing is the tool to get the desired result. Online marketing is a much more convenient way to spread awareness about your business than print or traditional media marketing. This is obvious in the statistics surrounding the decline of newspaper and magazine advertising.
Social media marketing and mobile advertising are quickly becoming the norm. Why not jump on board while the going’s good and tap into your true market potential?
Here are some great ways to market online.

1 – Design a website

The first and foremost step to start a good marketing campaign is to launch a website. This will act as a central hub to all your online media, marketing and advertising.
A good, affordable website design will give your customers insight into your business, and won’t break the bank. According to web experts, good web design is that which give its potential customers what they are searching for.
Your website should contain all the essential and necessary information whether you are an online eCommerce shop, a touring musician or a brick-and-mortar business.
You have less than 5 seconds to grab the attention of your visitor. A professionally designed website is almost mandatory in order to convert your visitor into a customer.
Most people searching online want to absorb the maximum amount of information in the shortest amount of time.
To cope with this situation, talk to your web designer and tell him or her about your requirements.

2 – Create a unique marketing strategy

There are many online marketing companies who will guide you on how to make a good marketing campaign and how to attract your target audience.
Again, this should be a unique approach, so try to steer clear from those companies who package it all up and offer everyone the same “method to success.”

3 – Start blogging

Many visitors will visit a company’s blog if they’ve found something interesting on the home page. Even more likely, a new visitor will reach your site through the blog.
Having fresh, new, current content on your industry will attract new visitors from the search engines to your website.
Some customers do not like those boring business talks about your product; they want deep insights into the benefits of the product along with some additional knowledge of the surrounding industry and a hint of fun.
For this purpose, keep the tone of your blogging voice conversational, and bring your point to the reader in such a way that it not only remains interesting but also informative and helpful for the customer.
They are, in the end, who you are writing for (not the search engines).

4 – Record videos

You can make an interesting video related to your business and broadcast it on YouTube or Vimeo. The video can be inspirational or informative and should grab the attention of the viewer.
Videos also help with search engine optimization and search engine results. Make sure you tag them with keywords and also, in the video itself, talk about those keywords and they will bring traffic to your website.
Avoid the oh-so-boring and do something creative.

5 – Article marketing

Distribute articles related to the product you are selling. The articles should be conversational, informative and easy to understand and contain a link to your website.
You can submit these articles to different directories, or, a more targeted approach would be to submit them as guest posts to other blogs within your industry.
This, too, helps with search results, and many times will help you reach the top of search results.

6 – Social media marketing

Use Facebook and Twitter for marketing, there you will get a maximum number of audience members and perhaps many valuable new customers as well.
If you take the time to build up a community of like-minded individuals you can use these social platforms for a number of things: continual market research; keeping in touch with potential partners, vendors or affiliates; show off your expertise and answer the questions of those striving to learn from you; link to your website and blog posts and get scores of new traffic.

7 – Search engine optimization

Utilize search engine optimization techniques such as link building and other off-page SEO. Google and other search engines rank websites partially based upon how many links from other websites you have.
By adding search engine optimized text in your website (through blog posts and articles), you’ve done the first big step.
The next necessary step in the process is to hire an SEO specialist to do some of the other, lesser known techniques. This will help you in getting a higher rank on Google search results.
